ISRO’s EOS-05 mission: ISRO successfully launched EOS-05 aboard GSLV-F17 from Sriharikota at 2:55 AM IST on 4 September.
Historic space mission: EOS-05 is India’s first imaging Earth-observation satellite designed to operate from a geosynchronous orbit.
GSLV milestone: GSLV-F17 was the 19th flight of the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV).
The approximately 2,367-kg EOS-05 will support applications such as agriculture, water-resource management, environmental monitoring, forestry and disaster management.
Mobile eSewa Vans: The Supreme Court’s eCommittee, NALSA and the Department of Justice are launching Mobile eSewa Vans to take e-Courts services, digital filing, legal assistance and Mobile Lok Adalats to remote areas.
India–Belgium partnership: India and Belgium have agreed to deepen cooperation in defence, critical minerals, semiconductors, renewable energy and clean technology, while working towards doubling bilateral trade.
2) 🌍 International
India–Belgium: Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever is on an official visit to India, the first visit by a Belgian Prime Minister to India in two decades.
India and Belgium have agreed to strengthen cooperation in defence production, maritime security, critical minerals, semiconductors and clean energy.
India–Ukraine: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar is visiting Ukraine and Poland from 3–5 September, with discussions centred on bilateral relations and regional developments.
SCO: The 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit concluded in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, with the Bishkek Declaration emphasising cooperation against terrorism and respect for international law.
SCO 2027: Pakistan is set to hold the SCO presidency in 2027.
3) 💰 Economy
Foreign-exchange reserves: India's forex reserves have reached a record US$729.33 billion.
Forex inflows: Special measures introduced to strengthen foreign-exchange liquidity have generated around US$136.4 billion in inflows.
Rupee: Strong forex inflows have supported the Indian rupee, which has recently reached a two-month high against the US dollar.
Crude oil: India's crude basket reached approximately US$99.35 per barrel on 2 September, reflecting the impact of renewed geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
GDP: India's real GDP grew by 7.8% in Q1 FY2026–27, with manufacturing growth of 9.2%.
4) 🗓 Date’s importance
Krishna Janmashtami: 4 September 2026 is being observed as Krishna Janmashtami, marking the birth of Lord Krishna, traditionally regarded as the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu.
Important dates: The festival is associated with Krishna Paksha Ashtami of the Hindu lunar calendar.
World Sexual Health Day: 4 September is observed annually as World Sexual Health Day, promoting awareness of sexual health and sexual rights.
National Wildlife Day: 4 September is also observed as National Wildlife Day in several countries to promote awareness about wildlife conservation and endangered species.

Bart De Wever — Prime Minister of Belgium.
He became Belgium’s Prime Minister in February 2025.
His September 2026 visit is significant because it is the first visit by a Belgian Prime Minister to India in 20 years.
During the visit, India and Belgium agreed to deepen cooperation in defence, trade, critical minerals, semiconductors, renewable energy and research.

Women’s Asia Cup 2026: India defeated Hong Kong, China by 137 runs and secured a place in the semi-finals.

Sarala Puraskar 2026: Renowned Odia poet and essayist Ashutosh Parida has been selected for the prestigious literary award.
Ramon Magsaysay Award 2026: Runa Khan of Bangladesh, Tommy Koh of Singapore and Bo Kyi of Myanmar have been selected as awardees.
National Sports Awards 2025: The awards were presented on 29 August 2026 at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Arjuna Award: 17 sportspersons were selected for the Arjuna Award for outstanding sporting achievements.

World Archery Para Series 2026: India will host the Hyundai World Archery Para Series for the first time in Ahmedabad from 5–9 September 2026.
