World Archery Para Series 2026: India is hosting the World Archery Para Series for the first time in Ahmedabad from 5–9 September 2026.
The Ahmedabad event features 108 para archers from 19 countries, competing across multiple para-archery categories.
Para High Performance Centre: Gujarat has announced a ₹316 crore Para High Performance Centre in Gandhinagar to support high-performance training for para-athletes.
National Teachers’ Awards: President Droupadi Murmu will confer the National Teachers’ Awards in New Delhi today as part of Teachers’ Day celebrations.
India–Ukraine: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has said India remains in continuous communication with both Russia and Ukraine and supports dialogue and diplomacy as the route towards peace.

India–Poland relations: S. Jaishankar's visit to Poland has focused on strengthening cooperation in trade, defence, supply-chain resilience, food, fuel and fertiliser security.
India–Ukraine: During his Ukraine visit, Jaishankar reiterated India's position that dialogue and diplomacy are essential for resolving the Russia–Ukraine conflict.
Russia–Ukraine conflict: India continues to maintain communication with both Moscow and Kyiv, while supporting diplomatic efforts for a peaceful resolution.
Himalayan disaster: Nepal continues recovery and relief operations following severe floods and landslides that have caused extensive loss of life and infrastructure.

RBI liquidity management: The Reserve Bank of India has announced a ₹7 lakh crore, 30-day Variable Rate Reverse Repo (VRRR) auction for 7 September 2026.
The move is aimed at absorbing surplus liquidity from the banking system, which had reached approximately ₹10.3 lakh crore as of 3 September.
The RBI has also introduced an early-redemption option in the longer-duration VRRR facility to encourage greater participation by banks.
FCNR(B) inflows: Banks have mobilised a record US$127.23 billion through the special FCNR(B) deposit programme, supporting India's foreign-exchange liquidity.
GDP growth: India's real GDP grew by 7.8% in Q1 FY2026–27, with manufacturing recording 9.2% growth.

Teachers’ Day: 5 September is celebrated as Teachers’ Day in India to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
Dr. Radhakrishnan was born on 5 September 1888 and served as the second President of India from 1962 to 1967.
Teachers’ Day in India has been observed on his birthday since 1962.
Important distinction: India's Teachers’ Day is celebrated on 5 September, whereas World Teachers’ Day is observed internationally on 5 October.
National Teachers’ Awards 2026: The national award ceremony is being held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on 5 September.

Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan — Indian philosopher, scholar, educationist and statesman.
He served as Vice-President of India from 1952 to 1962 and as the second President of India from 1962 to 1967.
He was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 1954.
His birthday, 5 September, is celebrated as Teachers’ Day in India.

Among the 48 school-teacher awardees, 26 are male and 22 are female.
These school teachers represent 27 States, 7 Union Territories and 6 Central Government organisations.
The school-teacher selection process involved District, State/Organisation and National-level evaluation.
