1) 🇮🇳 National

  • Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) gave in-principle approval for defence procurement proposals worth about ₹1.10 lakh crore for the three armed forces.

  • Around 98% of the approved procurement is planned from Indian industry, strengthening the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

  • The approvals include modernisation of Su-30MKI fighter aircraft, Advanced Light Helicopters, CBRN reconnaissance vehicles, radars, bridge systems and mine-laying systems.

Dr. Bhupen Hazarika

  • Born: 8 September 1926

  • Known as “Bard of the Brahmaputra” and “Sudhakantha”.

  • Legendary singer, composer, lyricist, filmmaker, poet and cultural icon from Assam.

  • Awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, posthumously in 2019.

  • His music promoted themes of humanity, social justice, unity and cultural harmony.

  • September 8, 2026 marks his 100th birth anniversary.

  • Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won the men’s doubles title at the China Masters Super 750 badminton tournament.
